I've been looking through the forums the last couple days and found some great mods and examples of what people have done with Price Tapestry. It looks like I can get it to do what I'm looking for, but I'm curious about any plans to add features similar to the following, or if there are current mods/hacks available that do any of these.
Even if nothing exists, PT looks to be a great product that I may try to modify as I need. (It was great to see in one thread that the code is unencrypted!)
Master Product Table
- A table where the PT Admin can set a few master fields for a product. (ex: make, model, title, part#/sku, image, description.)
- This table would be used to ensure a certain product description or image is shown, regardless of what a feed provides.
- This could link to the feed data by any combination of make/model/part#
- Could also have a supporting table that matches to feed data using alternate product titles. (ex: Merchant A with product "Sony 32" TV - XF123" and Merchant B with product "Sony 32in TV (XF123)" could be set to the same master product and show up together.)
- If a product has no master record, default TP details would be used. (Description and image from the lowest priced result)
Merchant Admin
- A GUI for the merchant to view the products they have on the PT site and make any quick changes if they needed to. (ex: Change a product title or price without having to provide a new feed.)
- Merchants could add/edit/delete products as well. Ideal for small merchants that may not run a feed-capable store or don't want to spend money for someone to write an extract program for them.
- Merchant could update their logo from here. (Which could be used in the search results.)
- Merchant could update the URL of their feed file here.
Most Popular Products
- Track product clicks so a list (ex: Top 10) of popular products can be shown.
(I may have seen a hack for this.)
Most Popular Searches
- Track searches so a list of popular searches can be shown.
- Ideally support "search cloud" style results where more popular searches are in larger fonts.
(I know I saw a hack for this (thank you!) but just listing it here for a complete list.)
I think that's everything that comes to mind so far.
Any thoughts?
Thank You,
Rich
Hi Rich,
I'll look over your other ideas, but just quickly - there is code for a "popular searches" here...
