Adding drop down menus

How do I add a drop down menu for the catergorys and retailer , so u search only in that catergory or retailer.

also want to remove the brand link below the search box

have searched the forum for this but the scripts dont appear to be this specific

Hi Madison,

You can remove the links from below the search box by removing the code in index.php. Look for the text "Search or browse by" (line 16 in the distribution) and remove the lines of code than generate the HTML to show the links.

Unfortunately it is not straight forward to add drop down menus to the search form to refine by both merchant and brand. Filtering by one is more straight forward, but to use both requires new search cases created and would not give good performance because the database cannot use more than one index at a time! I'll have a look into the easiest way to do this; and perhaps update the distribution with new generic code in navigation.php that can automatically propagate additional variables onto subsequent search result pages... Watch this space...!

many thanks again David , the main one i want is the category drop down menu , is that easier to do?

Yes - i'll make the changes to the navigation script so that it is easier to provide code in the forum for this sort of modification.
