Charset

Submitted by Octavian on Tue, 2015-10-13 11:35 in

Good day, David.

I have some trouble with charset. My site in russian language. In config.php I set it for UTF-8. So all the feeds dispalyed correctly. But everything in script not. When I changed it for win-1251. Everythig displayed correctly, but feeds not.
I tried to apply filters to encode to UTF-8 information from description and names, but it does not work.

Any solutions to make it work.

Warm regards, Sergii.

Hello Sergii,

It sounds like the text editor you have been using to make your site has been saving the files in win-1251. If using utf-8 makes everything from your feeds appear correctly it would be best to convert your script files.

Your text editor should have a "Character Encoding" drop-down menu on the Save As... dialog page. What I would suggest is to go through all the files in html/ as well as includes/translate.php and for each file, go to File > Save As... and then make sure they are being saved in UTF-8.

That should be all it is (in fact, if it is only translated text that appears incorrectly it may only be includes/translate.php that you need to convert so try that first) if still not working after that let me know and I'll check it out further with you of course...

Cheers,
David.
