Remote Feed

Submitted by mikecdprice on Sat, 2011-03-26 15:56 in

Hello,

How would I tell the price tapestry to look onto another server to parse the remote feed. The reason is when you start having 800 or whatever datafeeds if may need to be on another server while comparison server is on another at high speed.

How would I place a merchant there and have the actual /feed/ on another server. Is there a file I can upload with pointing direction or would it be in config?

Thank you

Hi Mike,

I'm planning a remote feed admin section at the moment. The reason i've been hesitant is down to the many different ways in which feeds are provided (particularly compression and internal file nameing) together with the limited resources of many lower end hosting accounts that may have maximum execution time and limit access to remote URLs etc.

In the mean time; the thing to do would be to treat it as an automation project - once set-up you can pretty much leave it alone. All the details are in this thread. It looks a little daunting at first but it really does cover all the bases; and I have lots of experience helping people out with this so if you have any queries at all just let me know..

Cheers,
David.
