The feed fetched OK but it doesn't auto-detect correctly since the lower level "DETAIL" elements out-number the actual "DEAL" elements so this confuses the auto-detection logic. On Feed Registration Step 1, you should be seeing the following as the auto-detected format string:
xml|RESPONSE/DEALS/DEAL/DETAILS/DETAIL/
If you edit that down to just:
xml|RESPONSE/DEALS/DEAL/
...and click Next, Feed Registration Step 2 should then appear as expected.
