Category mapping not working

Submitted by Harvey on Mon, 2006-08-21 12:22 in

Hello again,

I've currently got two merchants set up.

I'm trying to merge "Rings" with:

Engagement rings
Wedding/Anniversary bands
Diamond rings
Rings and bands
Solitaires

... but the above still appear in the category listings.

Also, search category:rings, and only the rings category comes up - not all of the above, so only one merchant displays.

BTW, I've re-registered/fully imported both feeds, but still no difference.

Hi Harvey,

Category Mapping is case sensative; so the first thing to check is that your entries in the list match exactly the categories in the feeds.

Searching for category:rings would only display the rings category, as Category Mapping actually renames all the listed categories to the main category name, so the mapped names don't appear in the database at all.

Cheers,
David.

Ah ha, that should indeed do the job.

Yes, I had neglected to use the correct capitals/lower case letters.

Also, for the category called "Wedding/Anniversary Bands", it's parsed as "WeddingAnniversary Bands". I presume I should have the category as "WeddingAnniversary Bands" to keep the script happy?

Thanks again for the wonderful support :)

Correct - you need the "normalised" version. The Price Tapestry script "normalises" input to make it safe; which removes characters such as "/" which could of course cause problems if the category apears in a URL!

Cheers,
David.
