This is a question to anyone out there since I know this is not something that PT was built for specifically. Does anyone know how to build a quick piece of code that will alert a user when a certain product reaches a certain price? I've seen it used on many sites out there but can't find any code examples.
The code would be in the specific product page...it would allow a user to input a price and email address, etc. into a small form. The form would post this info into a database. Then perhaps a cron job would be run every day and when a price matches or is below the amount the user entered, it would contact the user when that price is reached in the future and then delete that info from the database (now that it's no longer needed). Do you think this is an easy thing to develop or more complicated than it sounds?
Has anyone here done anything like this?
