It's been a while, I hope you are well?
I am looking to re-write the urls removing the "product", "merchant", "brand" and "category" before the relevant product, merchant, brand and category but it is proving more difficult than I anticipated.
I.e.
http://fashion.pricescompare.co.uk/Religion-Blue-Sailor-Dress.html
http://fashion.pricescompare.co.uk/Cameras/
http://fashion.pricescompare.co.uk/nikon/
http://fashion.pricescompare.co.uk/jessops/
Could you please give me some pointers, specifically with the reviews url.

There's quite a bit of discussion about this in the following thread:

In particular, notice the comment about moving the new rewrites to the bottom of .htaccess so that your new rules that just look for /something.html do not interfere with the other URLs!
