Category mapping based on keywords

Submitted by pieter on Sat, 2008-04-26 19:46 in

Hi,

Would it be possible to do category mapping based on keywords?
I use PT for travel comparison and have a lot of overlap in categories.

I already have search in description activated on the user-end.
Basically I want category mapping to do the same.

For example, I have a category named 'Beach'. I want to let this category
display searchresults from destination names like 'Hawaii' etc.
This would be done by entering keywords in the category mapping admin, or
by searching the names and descriptions.

Found a post on tagging, but not sure if that's what I would need...

Regards,

Pieter.

Hello Pieter,

Do you want products therefore to show up in more than one category search? For example, you mentioned that "Beach" > Hawaii, but would you also want "Island" > Hawaii?

There is code in the following thread that would let you set the category based on keywords found in the product name or description (during import); so you could map any product with "Hawaii" to the category "Beach"...
