404 Rewrite errors

Submitted by justindedge on Wed, 2014-03-26 16:28 in

I'm switching into the SEO friendly links but am getting 404 errors on my pages

{link saved}

If you click on any of the products, it gives you a 404. Also, when you click any of the links on the homepage you get the same error

I know there are adjustments that need to be made in the access file but I couldn't find a thread that included all of them. Can you let me know what needs to be changed to all of them to get this working? I'm in the root directory.

Hi Justin,

It looks like the only step remaining is to create your .htaccess file. The file is in the distribution as htaccess.txt (since it is not a good idea to include what are "hidden files" on most operating systems in .zip files!) and since your Price Tapestry installation is in the top level of your website all you need to do is rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess

The easiest way to do this is normally with your FTP program. In the remote window, Right-click on htaccess.txt and look for the Rename... option, rename to .htaccess and that should be all it is...

Hi David,

I have switched on the SEO friendly links, but I also get the same error. I have enabled the .htaccess in the root of my domain, as well as enabled it in the config file. At the moment, I have switched it back to dynamic urls ({link saved}).

I have followed your instructions.

Just wondering what it could be?

Hello Norbert,

I just looked at the link you posted and found that "htaccess" was offered for download so I think it is just that it was renamed to "htaccess" and not ".htaccess" - could you check, that should be all it is...
