Shareasale download question

Submitted by mikecdprice on Sat, 2013-08-03 18:44 in

Hello,

I have a silly question.

How would I have the cron call this url once a day, save the file and then unzip and import the products in the automation process.

http://jokey [dot] shareasale [dot] com/a-downloadproducts-bulk.cfm?merchantID={code saved}

Thank you

Hi Mike,

ShareASale.com feeds have always worked fine with the Automation Tool, but when testing the link that you posted it is requesting a login - so the URL returns an HTML login page, not the feed.

They may accept your credentials in the URL - so the first thing to try would be exactly the same URL that you have been using, but include your ShareASale username and password (the same details you use to login to the affiliate management area) in the URL as per the following format:

http://username:password@www.example.com/path/to/feed.csv

If still no joy, let me know and I'll check it out further with you...

Cheers,
David.

Hello David,

This one ia on the url not ftp for some reason. Merchant gave me the url to download and import. I am not sure why it is just not in the ftp like the others.

{link saved}

so when the http loads it tries to save the file. I tried all different variations on this one on the automation with errors or ok with no success stating on the ok file ;)

Any ideas?

I tried to ask them to approve for FTP and they said it is url based for ease.

I noticed it works via url if logged into shareasale

I guess I will have to manual update that file

Hi Mike,

It looks like they sent you a link that is specific to ShareASale.com's merchant area area. If you have working feeds from other ShareASale.com merchants, try using the same URL but just changing the Merchant ID to the number in the link that you are trying...

Cheers,
David.

Hi Mike,

Update to the above - the URL you are trying does appear to be a standard ShareASale.com feed URL, but possibly for that Merchant ID is not being made available unless logged in to ShareASale.com, so it would probably worth contacting support and letting them know the exact URL that you are trying and they should be able to let you know if there is a specific reason for the login request.

Cheers,
David.
