Does category mapping get deleted on feed deregister

Hi again David
just a quick question does the category mapping for a feed that is de-registered get deleted or does it stay in the ctegroy mapping table if it does get deleted, is there a way we can stop it?

i wasnt sure and as we can have as many as 100 affiliate categorys mapped to each category i dint want to take the risk of de-registering any feeds

Hello Michael,
Category Mapping is completely independent of the feeds table, so nothing about category mapping is affected when you delete / de-register a feed. Of course any mappings that apply only to the deleted feed won't have any affect on the next import; but if you subsequently re-introduce the same feed; or even a different merchant's feed that happens to use the same non-mapped category names then they would once again take effect and translate to the master category name upon import.
