gunzip facility?

Tradedoubler feeds come in the format xml.gz , and as such need to be gunzipped using SSH before being registered (not too much of a problem until you have to do 40 at a time, which is a tad time-consuming)
Would it therefore be possible to either:
1. Incorporate a unzip / gunzip facility into the admin page or
2. Create a php script that will automatically gunzip files (similar to the script that automatically downloads the feeds, which is fantastic, thanks hugely)??

Hi Duncan,
I'm working on 2 features over the next few days;
i) Web Fetching script, that will automatically unzip/gunzip/untar as required
ii) First cut at a categorisation system - either user defined or derived from the feed
Will post to the forum with updates on each of these.
